What to wear?
You should bring layers and keep in mind that it is typically several degrees cooler on the water than on shore. Sneakers or boat shoes are best for your safety moving about the boat as well as keeping the deck free of marks.
Is alcohol allowed?
You may bring alcohol on your sail if you desire. Please bring a reasonable amount and drink responsibly; remember that you are on the water where safety is paramount. If you or a guest arrive intoxicated your charter may be canceled. No drugs of any kind allowed - zero tolerance. While cannabis is legal in the State of Illinois, the lakes and harbors are considered federal waters and these substances are illegal.
what about weather?
We will do everything possible to ensure your charter occurs as scheduled. However, in the event of lightning, heavy rain, cold temperatures or excessive wind and waves your sail may be postponed or cancelled. We will try and give as much advance notice of cancellations as possible, but keep in mind weather can change quickly and dramatically. Safety is paramount and the decision to sail is always at the captain's discretion. We always offer rescheduling in the event of cancellation for weather.
If you cancel or reschedule your charter less than 72 hours before your scheduled departure time you will be charged a 10% fee. Cancellations in less than 24 hours before charter will receive no refund. Additionally, we ask that you arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled charter.

how do i get to the boat?
Seabird is located on G dock in Belmont Harbor. If heading southbound on Lake Shore Drive, exit on Irving Park Rd and follow Recreation Drive into the harbor parking lot. If heading northbound on Lake Shore Drive, exit on Recreation Drive and enter the harbor parking lot. DO NOT exit (or allow an Uber/Taxi to exit) at Belmont. The Belmont exit provides access only the south side of the harbor and it will be a very long walk to the boat. Parking is $17 for the day in the park district lot at the harbor.
